DIY Wednesday: Baby Gifts

Hi There,

I try to write posts ahead of time so I can try to keep up with the DIY Wednesdays. When I first did this post, I talked about how one of my good friends was also pregnant. But as of two days ago, she isn't pregnant and is a new mom! Her little baby boy, Colin was born on the 19th.
So, I redrafted this post as a bit of a welcome to the world Colin post. We had a joint shower in December and I made her some burp cloths (that are blue...I guessed correctly that it was a boy!) and a scrapbook. I made the scrapbook in a Jungle theme to match her nursery theme. I left the pages open to add pictures since she'll probably be way too busy with a new baby to scrapbook. Hopefully, this helps her keep up a little bit.
Anyways, Congratulations Eli and Angie! Enjoy your new parenthood!

DIY Wednesday: Wall Art

Hello,

This week's post is about two paintings I did for my brother for Christmas. He's out on his own in his first bachelor pad and doesn't have much for wall art. I found a retro design as inspiration. I used colors that were more "manly" like green, blue and grey. He just purchased a sage green sofa, so I tried to use that in the painting. I used a ruler and freestyle to draw the outline then filled in the blanks with acrylic paint. The project took about five hours to complete.

Here's the inspiration I found online.

The outline I free-styled on the canvas.

The finished painting.

The two paintings together. One is meant to hang vertical and the other horizontal.

DIY Wednesday: Man Room

Hi There,

My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary in May. It was a long year of marriage and deserved a really good celebration. We went to a nice dinner in Pierre. My husband gave me something that is always a good gift for me: Coach. I got a nice pair of sunglasses, a scarf and a key chain. I wanted to do something nice for him. I decided to renovate the "man room" in our place.

I painted the walls a light grey and covered the gross blue trim with some white paint. (okay...not some...about 6 layers) I painted the end table from the living room with dark brown paint. I got him a painting of pheasants on old barn wood. I also got him a sign that says "Gun Dog Inn Licking and Whining Permitted." This room also works as a guest room on occasion. I did some cleaning of his things like his desk and gun cabinet. Over-all, I think the room turned out pretty good.

The room "before"

The closet had no door, but now I have put up a curtain.

Lovely blue trim. Actually the trim doesn't look all that bad in this picture...but it's seriously bad in person. Looked great with the dirty white walls!

The "after" picture. The picture on the left is a print Adam won at a Pheasant's Forever auction. The one on the right is the painting I purchased for him.
